Udupi: District Anganwadi workers committee stage protest for fulfilment of demands

Udupi, Jul 11: The members of district Anganwady workers committee staged protest on Wednesday, July 10, in front of DC office Rajathadri here demanding of the fulfilment of various demands including the commencement of LKG and UKG sections in all Anganwadi centres instead of public schools.

Susheela Nada, secretary, district committee, said, “LKG and UKG has been started in 54 government public schools. Hence, all children are registering in public schools. The number of children is going down from 30 to 3. Due to this, Anganwadi workers will be on streets working since 40 years under ICDS scheme.

“LKG and UKG training should be given to those who have passed SSLC and recruited in Anganwadi centres from 1995. All the infrastructure facilities should be provided in the centres. Uniform should be given to children. ILC based pension should be replaced with retirement benefit. Salary enforcement based on service excellence, and promotion should be given to Anganwadi workers. Prior to the admission in primary schools, transfer certificate system should be implemented,” she said.

A petition copy was handed over to the deputy commissioner to reach out to chief minister through district administration.

Bharathi, district president, Yashodha K, president, Kundapur taluk, B Ashalatha, Bhagya, treasurer, Shantha, general secretary, Jayalakshmi S Shetty, president, Brahmavar taluk, Sarojini, Ambika, president, and Pramila, treasurer were present.
