Bangalore: State Advocate General Uday Holla Resigns

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Jun 16: State advocate general Uday Holla resigned from his post on Monday June 15. He met state Governor Rameshwar Thakur and tendered his resignation.

He said, he has resigned from the post because of personal reasons. However, it is said, the fact that the government officials have not been properly responding to the requirements as per the court directives, had frustrated him. Another issue, on which he is angry, is said to be the appointment of an additional advocate general.

Sources also say that there have been serious differences between the advocate general and primary and secondary education minister Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri on the issue of medium of instructions. It may be recalled that the minister faces a contempt of court case filed by a few educational institutions on the department's refusal to issue permissions to schools that want to teach in English. In spite of the High Court ruling, the minister has been vehemently pursuing the policy of having Kannada as medium of instruction in the primary schools of the state.

Prophets are still there. We need more of them. The issue of medium of instruction is a highly political issue. How far can we go with our KANNADA? Changing Bangalore into Bengaluru is a big achievement. Maintaining Kannada is sign of defending our culture, they say. With these silly issues POLITICIANS ARE INCREASINGLY BECOMING AN UNBEARABLE LIABILITY AND A GRAVE RISK TO THE FUTURE OF KARNATAKA.
