Beltangady, Jun 16: Judicial inquiry into shootout at Dharmasthala by Andhra Pradesh police that occurred on May 1 at Ashok Nagar maidan will be held at tahsildar's office here at 11 am on Wednesday Jun 17.

The inquiry will be headed by Puttur sub-division assistant commissioner Dr Harish Kumar as per instructions by deputy commissioner V Ponnuraj. Persons with information regarding the incident or witnesses will be provided an opportunity to record their statements.

It can be recalled here that Aithappa (35), an employee of Annapoorna, a choultry of Dharmasthala Lord Manjunateshwara Temple was killed and another person named Uday was injured when the Andhra Pradesh police opened fire at a group of youth playing cricket at Sri Kshetra Dharamasthala on May 1. The policemen were on poll duty in the taluk and were on visit to the temple.
