New Delhi, June 21 (IANS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday said the election results were a disappointment but it would emerge stronger from the crisis while reiterating that no single individual was responsible for the debacle.
Senior BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu told reporters on the second day of the party's national executive meeting that there was "disappointment" with the Lok Sabha election results as their "expectations were high and the results were not according to the expectations".
"We respect the verdict of the people. After detailed discussions and receiving inputs from different state units it was concluded with confidence that ours is a mission and we have the patience, calibre and stamina to withstand this setback and prepare for the future," Naidu said.
He added that the BJP will play the role of a "constructive opposition" in parliament and would cooperate with the government in handling various problems facing the country, including the current economic crisis and turmoil in the neighbouring countries.
