Maoists Blow up Anti-landmine Vehicle as 48-hr Bandh Begins

Kolkata, Jun 22: Maoists on Monday targeted an anti-landmine vehicle in Jharkhand as a 48-hour strike called by them began in five states, where security has been put on high alert.

The vehicle was on its way to Ghatshila in East Singhbhum district bordering West Bengal when Maoists set off a landmine. Police said the vehicle was not damaged and there were no reports of any casualty.

The bandh has been called by the Maoists in West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Orissa in protest against security forces storming Lalgarh in West Midnapore district of West Bengal.

In Malkangiri in Orissa, two Maoists were gunned down in a fierce battle with police, district police chief Satyabrat Bhoi said.

The gun battle took place when a team of police and jawans of the elite Special Operation Group (SOG) were conducting a combing operation in a forest area and the ultras opened fire from their hide-out, he said.

The operation had been launched after three Maoists opened fire during a checking by the police here last night and escaped into the forest. No one was injured in the incident.

In the restive Lalgarh in West Midnapore district, which was reclaimed by the security forces on Saturday, CRPF, BSF and West Bengal police personnel intensified their operations.

Mr Aditya/Udupi. Now you have applied clear double standards. What stops you from condemning these maoists?? Are you looking at their community. If you see their percentage is more than any other community''s involvements. Time and again I have been telling that terrorists have no religion. Are LTTE not terrorists like Taliban???? Are Maoist not terrorists like Taliban?? Are Taliban not terrorist like LeT, ? Are Durgavahini and Abhinav bhara different than Taliban??? Act is same but name is different and patrons are different. Lets stand up against all forms of terrorism???

We should condemn criminals of all religions. Because a criminal of any religion gives a bad name to his particular religion. At the same time, fighting politics based on religion too should be banned under the constitution. Indian people are mature enough and they proved their maturity by electing a government which shall take India to new heights and which shall herald the era of a new period of development.

To all those commentators who commented adversly on my comments - "Terrorists and criminals have no religion" - Do I have to prove my words. Terrorists and cirminals come from all communities and no community is free from this evil.

Terrorist and criminals are terrorists and they dont follow any religion. They have hidden agenda of creating terror. But for the same acts different labels are given according to the perspective of the government/media/nations.
