Lucknow, Jun 27: A 16-year-old Dalit boy was allegedly beaten to death by his two friends in Uttar Pradesh over a tiff on who will bat first while playing cricket, police said Friday.

"The incident took place in the Bulandshahr district, where Surjeet was killed by his friends," police inspector Babu Ram told IANS by phone. Bulandshar is 400 km from Lucknow.

Surjeet had an argument with his friends on who will bat first. As tempers flared up, Surjeet's friend attacked him with cricket bats and wickets and he was killed on the spot, he added.

"An FIR (first information report) has been registered against Surjeet's two friends-Triloki and Pawan, who are in their early 20's, police said.

"Both Triloki and Pawan are absconding," he added.
