Violence Continues in Mysore; Two More Receive Stab Injuries

TOI

Mysore, Jul 3: In a fresh bout of violence, two more persons received serious stab wounds as the communal tension which gripped parts of the city showed no
signs of let up for the second consecutive day on Friday.

Giridhar, a BJP activist, and his friend Wajid were attacked with sharp weapons by two motor-borne persons at Pulikeshinagar area this evening, police said.

The two were chatting in front of their house when they were attacked, police said, adding the accused were yet to be identified. Javed, brother of Wajid, immediately rushed both to a hospital.

With this, five persons have been stabbed since last night and three others killed in violence, which erupted over the alleged desecration of a Madrasa here yesterday.

Though the police rushed reinforcements to the area to prevent violence from spreading, three men received stab injuries last night and are being treated in a hospital.

Two batallions of RAF deployed in the troubled areas staged a flag march today to instill confidence among fear-stricken residents.

The fresh attack on Giridhar and Wajid has baffled the police over the motive of the attackers.

It is really shame to note that we “Indians” cannot live in harmony. We discuss about Australia, Gulf, etc. when we have millions of issues that need to be ironed out. When we point out to other countries, why are we forgetting to mention incidents relating to foreigners in India? We have always maintained that all people – whether they are Hindu, Muslim, Christian, etc. stand united as Indians.

But, recent incidents relating to the minorities show that we are living in make believe world. Divide and rule was the policy used to capture and rule India prior to Independence. We can see easily how the elements are at work to religious segregation with regular unrest between the masses. Instead of finger pointing, it is time to stand united and face this menace we have created in the form of Ministers who have their own personal agendas.
