Bangalore, Jul 4: Twenty Five Franciscan Capuchin Brothers belonging to four jurisdictions, namely Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa and North India were ordained deacons by the Bangalore archbishop His Grace Bernard Moras on 3rd July, 2009 at Darshan Institute of Theology, Kengeri, Bangalore.  The ceremony lasted for more than three hours.  A large number of congregation along with the parents and relatives of the brothers was present on the occasion.

In his homily, the archbishop instructed the deacons on the need of becoming holy priests. He found it very auspicious to have ordained twenty five brothers as deacons in the year dedicated to priests.  The archbishop said that it was for the first time that he was ordaining twenty five brothers.

After the Eucharist, there was a short felicitation program for the newly ordained deacons.

25 young men hailing from 25 families dedicating themselves as Capuchin Brothers for the cause of faith and humanity. We have a great respect and admiration for the Capuchin Priests as well as the Carmelite Nuns who have so much to offer to the community thru their sacrifices and daily devotions. Their families, regardless of how rich or poor, virtually donate these young men to the cause of Christianity. May God help all these newly ordained Deacons and side by side take care of their families in their daily needs and necessities of life.
