Mangaluru, Sep 6: 'Navarang' and 'Excelso-2019', national level inter-collegiate fests was inaugurated at Milagres College auditorium in the city on Friday, September 6.
'Navarang' is exclusively organized for PU students to showcase their creative ideas and talents by the departments of Science (BHS&FND). 'Excelso-2019' is the national level UG inter-collegiate, Commerce, Literary and Cultural fest for degree students.
John Samuel, proprietor, Aqua Meter Water Solutions, Pranav Hegde, actor-director, Sandalwood and Philip D’Souza, managing director, Prince Caterers graced the inaugural programme as chief guests. Fr Joseph Lobo, correspondent, Milagres Educational Institutions, presided over the programme. Cicilia Pinto, vice president, Milagres Parish Council, Lavina Lobo, vice president PTA and Denzil D’Costa, programme convener, were present on the dais.
In his speech, John Samuel said, "I lost my father when I was an infant. With all difficulties, my mother took care of me and my siblings. This made me a tough person. I thought of chasing success. Today more than 150 engineers and technicians works under me. By this, I think, nothing is impossible in our life. We have to just use our brain. The courage which we have, gives us the success. So my message to the young generation is be humble and do not be egoistic.”
In his speech Pranav Hegde said, “Inexperience always leads to wastage of time and increases the expenses. We have to study the subject or the work which we are going to do. I began my film career as an assistant director and it opened the door of opportunities. So grab the opportunities and give a right competition. Success will always be with you.”
In his presidential address, Fr Joseph said, "Navarang represents nine circles of our life. Each circle gives us an opportunity to shine ourselves in life. Desire, vision and ambition are the main gateways of success. We should open them and enter the world of opportunity. The time, interest and creativity help us to achieve something which we dreamed.”
Alwyn Rosario, who donated 4,500 books for the college library, was felicitated by guests and management.
Fr Michael Santumayor, principal, welcomed the dignitaries and students who have gathered from various colleges.
Day long competitions such as Rangoli, Collage, Photography, T-Shirt Painting, Face Painting, Pencil Sketching, Art out of Waste, Product Advertising/Publicity, and cooking without Fire will be held. Students from more than 40 colleges will participate in the fest.
