Mangaluru: Youth addicted to drugs thanks city police for saving his life

Mangaluru, Sep 6: A 20-year-old boy who was addicted to drugs has written a heartfelt letter to Mangaluru police commissioner Dr P S Harsha, thanking the city police for saving his life. 

In the letter, the boy writes he could not concentrate on studies or in activities due to his drug addiction problem. 

On September 2, the boy was caught consuming drugs and was brought to Kavoor Police Station. Here, Inspector Raghu and ACP Srinivas counseled the boy and motivated him to give up drugs.

“They have led me in a good direction, with good and better ways to lead life. Now, I have quit my habits completely. Your police officers have thought me how to take precautions when I feel like getting back. This has helped me. I and my family are really grateful to the police department,” the youth writes. 

The Commissioner has shared the letter on twitter, adding not just cases and arrests but there are other tools to attain results.

    Good Job by police dept. Yes the boy need more counselling. Also police should findout the hideouts of drug dealers. Keep some CIDs. Only 5 percent drug mafia is behind bars. What about the 95.percent drug dealers who work with political support.?

    It is amazing to hear from a drug addicted boy for thanking Police and realizing he has done wrong and wants to lead a life without drugs.Hope and pray he will keep up his promise and be steady in future.Many times such addicts fall back to their old habits in case one faces a little trouble in life.Recognizing self is always a good sign.Good work by police instead of using their other methods.Boy met a good angel.

    This is A VERY RARE KIND OF SERVICE Dr. Harsha is rendering to the public. To save a young man from drug addiction and help him to turn over a new leaf is an extraordinary service Our present Commissioner of Police is rendering to the public. Not only the young boy but his parents are grateful to this senior officer and his staff for the service rendered to to the public.
