BJP President Tries to Perk up Youth Wing After Poll Debacle

New Delhi, July 12 (IANS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh Sunday asked the party's youth wing to remain committed to the ideology of "cultural nationalism" and not be disappointed with the electoral reverses.

"We are proud of being part of a party that has a strong ideological base. I can say with confidence that no other party today can boast of an ideology which governs it," Rajnath Singh said in his address at the two-day national executive meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha here.

"Our ideology is of cultural nationalism, which gives inspiration to the party, and this cannot be measured on the parameters of electoral gains or losses," he said.

Rajnath Singh said though the poll results were not as per the party's expectations, the party cadres should not feel disappointed.

He said the "nation is moving towards a bi-polar polity and our time will come again". The Congress got 206 seats and the BJP 116, while all other parties managed to get just around 20 seats each in the April-May Lok Sabha polls.

The BJP president rejected the communal tag attached to the party by its rivals.

"We accepted the ideology of cultural nationalism to build a strong nation, as we also believe in 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'. And how can a party like the BJP, which follows such a strong path of inclusive approach and nation building, be termed as communal," he said.
