Mangalore: S M Krishna Gives Green Signal for Opening Full-fledged Passport Office in City

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jul 14:  Convener of Mangalore Railway Development Action Committee P V Mohan has informed that union minister for foreign affairs, S M Krishna, has agreed to open full-fledged passport offices in Mangalore and Hubli in place of passport facilitation centres proposed earlier.

"The minister has already written to the state Chief Minister in this connection. Notification about the opening of the offices will be released in August. All India Congress Committee general secretary Oscar Fernandes had taken interest in the issue and had personally requested Krishna to permit opening of the passport office in the city," Mohan explained.

As already informed, facilitation centres will be opened in Gulbarga and Belgaum. Only processes relating to the final phase remain to be attended to, before these centres can become operational, the officials of the department of foreign affairs said.

Mohan also added that minister of state in the railways K H Muniappa has promised to hold a meeting with E Ahmed and Oscar Fernandes at Delhi on Tuesday July 14 for discussing the issue of the extension of Bangalore-Mangalore train to Kannur.

Had Congress shown interest in case of Bangalore-Mangalore train it would have been better. Though it may help Mangaloreans, it also shows the cheap gimmick of Congress, by toubling on one side by train diversion, & other side by giving this new offer. Humm....something like showing candy to children & making them dance to tune.

Good news. But i cant believe what it is written: "All India Congress Committee general secretary Oscar Fernandes had taken interest in the issue and had personally requested Krishna to permit opening of the passport office in the city," If Oscar Fernades was really interested in development of his constituency, this problem would not have come up in Manglore and Udupi. I think just to please Mangaloreans they r mentioning his name.People who r having the real experience in the situation of Roads from last 25 years dont believe this.I think from year 1983 he is in power. Can anyone list a few developments he has done to Udupi and Mangalore.

I think it’s not fare to provide any support on this from the government of Karnataka. This is nothing but a game plan to create a political sympathy by SMK. It should have been from the chief minister of Karnataka to offer and not someone else taking the chance. Such a nasty political rule! Can you imagine being a manager of your department some one else interfere in offering something without your knowledge!! RUBBISH. Well, having said that we don’t want to loose it but shouldn’t it be there a system!
