BANGALORE, Jul 14: Akhila Karnataka Pranidaya Sangha’s demand for amendment to Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Cattle Preservation Act 1964 has received support from Muslim Rashtriya Manch and Karnataka State Union Muslim League.

Representatives of the three organisations have welcomed the reported move of the Karnataka Government to amend the Act for a complete ban on slaughter of cow and its progeny and demanded early of a Bill in the current legislature session itself.

Akhila Karnataka Pranidaya Sangha’s Dayananda Swamiji hailed the Government’s move to bring in a legislation for amending the Act for banning slaughter of cows in the State and appealed to the Government to ensure that steps are taken to constitute a Karnataka Cow Welfare Commission to preserve cows.

``We want the Government to establish Goshalas in all the villages of the State, where the farmers will surrender aged cows, instead of selling them to slaughterhouses,’’ he said.

Endorsing the demand for a complete ban on cow slaughter, State convenor of Muslim Rashtriya Manch K M Anees-ul-Haq claimed that majority of Muslims in India had not touched beef in their life-time while some were only occasional beef-eaters.

He contended that Islam clearly asked Muslims to respect the sentiments of their neighbours. ``Naturally, we support the call for a ban on cow slaughter to respect the sentiments of our Hindu brethren,’’ he said.

Karnataka State Union of Muslim League President Mohammed Usman Ali pointed out that cow slaughter was also banned during the rule of the Mughals. Muslim rulers in South India such as the Bahmanis too had banned slaughter of cows.

``Slaughter of cows began only after the advent of British, who were beef-eaters,’’ he said pointing out that ``today’s Muslims are unnecessarily being sacrificed at the altar of the leather lobby.’’

I appreciate the stand you have taken. I request you spread the same message to other people also who are eating beef out of ignorance. However we should not single out only muslims for eating beef, but christian and even some Hindus (ravi shastri) do the same. Every body should be made aware

When verdict of Allahabad High Court on Ram Janmbhoomi & the disputed structure came in light, there were many articles in the newspapers praising the patience & communal harmony displayed by the people of India and that of Ayodhya in particular. It also came to light that many a muslims are engaged in rendering their services to the temple to earn their bread and butter yet are leading a hard life due to meager earning. My dream is that these people of Ayodhya must lead a prosperous life and for this there is a need to think beyond the politics.

It is heartening to note that inclination of most of the Muslims in Ayodhya is in favour of construction of temple of Lord Ram by Hindus at the disputed site in Ayodhay and they have shown their willingness by requesting their community heads not to have any claim on the disputed site for construction of Mosque or to take up this matter in the Supreme Court but give the entire land for Ram Mandir. Their courage and concern must be applauded. It shows that the Muslims of Ayodhya who are living with other communities with peace and harmony for many decades are wise and think proactively. They clearly understand that once the temple of Lord Ram is allowed to be built in Ayodhya, the future of Ayodhya as well as the citizens of Ayodhya will completely be transformed. The Temple of Lord Ram will bring employment / business opportunities in the various forms. No doubt, the Temple will be visited by lacs and lacs of people from all parts of India every day and the city will require Hotels, lodges, restaurants, Sweets shops, taxis, rikshaws, auto rikshaws, flowers vendors, grocery shops, puja shops, Photos & Novelties shops, medical shops, Cold drink and mineral water shops, Electronic audio video shops, auto shops, vehicles shops, vehicles repair shops, fruits and vegetable shops, photographers, small vendors, Boat-men at the Ghats, and naturally a huge manpower to manage and run successfully the aforesaid affairs of the city. This will give a boost to the tourism and thus the citizen of Ayodhya will get a better life to lead. Therefore, leave aside what Waqf Board members say or what Nirmohi Akhara people say. Let the citizens of Ayodhya and elsewhere must come together and make the others understand that it is futile to take up this matter with the Supreme Court in the light of the Allahabad High Court judgment which clearly indicates that there was a Ram Mandir at the disputed site which was demolished and a Masque was constructed there upon. This is the high time that we must support wholeheartedly the construction of Ram Mandir at the disputed site because by now it is very clear that only Lord Ram can uplift the down trodden/ grief-striken people of Ayodhya and bring them out of poverty to lead a more meaningful life and NOT THE SHREWED POLITICIANS WITH THEIR VESTED INTERESTS. Jai Shree Ram

A cow is an oridinary animal like the goat, deer, pig, buffalo, lion, tiger. The whole world eats beef because it provides nutrition to the body. Another of the religious nonsense that Cow is a god. Why doesn''t this god save itself when it is being slaughtered. No logic in banning sale of beef. This same prople will not make a fuss and not buy shoes if it is not made of leather, they want leather belts, leather wallets, leather bags but cry foul of eating meat but will eat mutton, chicken, fish, game birds. Why don''t these creatures have blood in them. Why not ask for a ban in the whole world for slaughter and sale of beef.

Being a muslim I support ban on cow slaughter. My parents never allowed beef preparation in our house. Government has to arrange everything to protect the cows when it gets old.

Brothers, Its time that Muslims need to show solidarity with our fellow brethren on this topic and avoid cow slaughter. I believe even Prophet Muhammed (SAW) had discouraged cow slaughter /female species of cattle, mainly because we get much more benefit from cows ( correct me if I am wrong). Lets always choose the middle path in case of situations and move towards a peaceful environment in Mangalore in specific and India as a whole.

I surely agree that one must respect others sentiments. It applies not only to muslims and christians but also other community members. We support the ban on cow slaughter as a respect for the religious sentiments of hindu brothhers who are neighbours. Let hindu brothers stop attacking masjid and churches and stop desecrating places of worship. Its all give and take. You cant take without giving. After banning the cow slaughter, the government must not ban on the impport of beef from neighbouring states and countries as many a people may want to have it. State should also make provisions for its availability. Once all provisions in hand, its availability is assured and secured, then ban should be applied and errant citizens must be booked and punished. Otherwise clandistine killing shall be order of the day. Secondly only law enforcing machinery should be used to enforce this law and not any other communual groups which may take law in their hands. Police force must be free from corruption and should not accept pay offs and bribes from illegal cattle traders and butchers. Then we can say its a good news. Can any one guarantee corrupt free system????? I have my own doubts.
