Kundapur, Sep 19: Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has completed five years and there are many who are doing their bit to make India clean. However, a cleanliness drive held in Kundapur was truly special as it was done by differently-abled children from Chaitanya School for Special Children, Voderhobli. 

The students accompanied by their teachers kick-started the campaign by picking up trash near Kundapur Bridge. While they earnestly involved themselves in the cleanliness mission, for the residents it was an eye-opener. “Learn at least from us”, “Do not throw trash at least after this” and “Take care while disposing trash” were the messages written on placards with an aim to raise awareness.  

Chaitanya School managing trustee Shobha Soans said that cleaning the place is just not enough. “Cleanliness is easy if people make sure that they do not throw away trash. Our cleanliness is in our hands just like our health. The schoolchildren have created awareness among people. School staff will continue the cleanliness campaign,” she said. 

Mahila Samaja Voderhobli members also volunteered for the cleanliness drive. 

Nutan, Nagaraj, Sujatha, Veena Kotian, Suprabha Chatra, Rekha Ramachandra, headmistress Leela Karkada, Dinesh Gode and Barkur’s MSW students took part in the campaign.
