Mangaluru, Sep 27: Principal secretary in the department of planning, programme coordination and statistics, and head of Coastal Development Authority Shalini Rajneesh, has instructed the concerned to ensure that all the development works planned in the coastal area are completed by March next year.

She was speaking after presiding over progress review meeting of Coastal Development Authority held at the auditorium of the office of the Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner on Thursday September 26.

She noted that as per guidelines, the authority can meet 90 percent of the project cost of development work if either the villagers or the MLA meet the remaining ten percent of project cost. The reports of work completed and photos thereon have to be compulsorily posted in the website of the authority, she reminded the officials.

Shalini observed that compared to other districts, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi have achieved good development. For achieving integrated development, industrial sector backed with progressive ideas can hold promise, she observed. “More than how much money is spent for d development works, how far they are useful for the people is more important,” she told the officers.

Additional deputy commissioner of the district M J Roopa, secretary of Coastal Development Authority Pradeep D'Souza, Puttur assistant commissioner Krishnamurthy and others were present.
