Bantwal: Shutters broken, five shops at Adyanadka on highway burgled

Bantwal, Sep 30: It is reported that doors and shutters of five shops located by the sides of highway at Adyanadka were broken open on Sunday, September 29. The thieves took away cash and cigarettes from these shops.

A provision store belonging to Vasudeva Nayak at Meginapete Adyanadka was broken open and Rs 60,000 in cash apart from cigarettes worth Rs 30,000 and computer monitor attached to CCTV camera was stolen, a police complaint said. Another provision store belonging to Devananda Shenoy in Adyaadka downtown was targeted by thieves. They broke the lock of the shop and took away over Rs 500. The lock of a shutter of a studio located in front of Shenoy's shop was broken and about Rs 10,000 including coins stored in boxes were stolen, it is learnt.

The shutter of a shop owned by Radhakrishna Nayak in front of Adyanadka auto stand was broken and the thieves searched for money. They scattered papers inside the table drawer and made efforts in vain to find money. One more provision store owned by Rohitashwa near Adyanadka School too was attacked by the thieves who took away Rs 10,000 including coins and notes.

Finger print experts and canine squad visited the spot. The canine visited all the shops in the town and also approached the public toilet before losing scent. It is said that movement of a thief has been captured in a CCTV camera in the town, based on which the police have begun investigation.

Additional superintendent of police Dr Vikram Amte, assistant superintendent of police Saidulu Advavat, and police circle inspector T D Nagaraj, visited the spot and undertook scrutiny. Vittal assistant sub-inspector Dhanbanjay and others also visited the spot and began investigation.
