Mumbai, Sep 30: Punit Goenka on Sunday, September 29 announced that his father, chairman of Essel Group, Subhash Chandra was in Mumbai and discarded the news of him leaving the country.

Goenka made the claims on his official Twitter handle, where he called the 'mischief makers' to not spread rumours about his father.

"It has been brought to my notice that certain mischief-makers have insinuated that my father and our Chairman Subhash Chandra has left the country. Vide this tweet, I wish to clarify straight away, that he is very much in Mumbai at home," Goenka tweeted.

"He is a fighter and a patriot, and certainly not one to run away from challenges. My message to the ones who attempted this focus on positive things in life," he added.

Adding to his son's claims, Subhash Chandra shared a photo where he was being visited by people after his eye surgery.

Earlier, Essel Group's stocks crashed by one-third following which Chandra blamed the aggressive bets on infra plays, which lost control after the IL&FS crisis and the acquisition of Videocon's D2H business.

Chandra also pointed out that few people hindered his efforts to raise money by the sale of Zee Entertainment Enterprises.
