Udupi: Kadiyali's Ganeshotsava Samiti reconstructs house for SC woman

Udupi, Oct 2: On the auspicious day of Gandhi Jayanti, Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samiti, Kadiyali, reconstructed a house named ‘Vighnesha Kripa’ for Sumati belonging to the ST community from Manjushreenagar in Indrali ward, Udupi.

The inauguration was held near Bhagyashree Koraga Samudaya Bhavana, Manjushreenagar on October 2.

The programme was inaugurated by Dinakar Babu, president, Zilla Panchayat, Udupi. The solar lights inauguration was done by Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat. P Sundar, gurikar of Manjushreenagar presided over the programme.

In his inaugural address, Dinakar Babu reminisced the contributions of Gandhi for the society. “Gandhi was not only a freedom fighter but also a person who tried to develop the society and abolished evil practices. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it a mission to create a clean society unlike the previous government. BJP is always ready to bring change which will benefit the people,” he said.

Babu recalled that women had performed Hulivesha in Udupi, Kadiyali and the funds collected from it were given to “Aasare Yojane”. Rs 5.80 lac rupees was collected, said Dinakar Babu. He wished that in the coming days more such programmes are conducted by Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samiti, Kadiyali.

Raghupathi Bhat said it was Bal Gangadhar Tilak who started Ganeshotsava Samiti in India and now its reach has spread to every district and Kadiyali committee is doing a great job. He congratulated Ganeshotsava Samiti for organising programmes and doing social work. He also spoke about ‘Aasare Yojane’ where orphans are given free education by the Ganeshotsava Samiti, Kadiyali.

“Government has planned for many programmes for the members of Koraga Samaj. In the budget, it has focused on giving more facilities like medicine and shelter to the people of Koraga Samaj. Government aims to bring the people from the community into the mainstream of the society and enables them to enjoy privileges like other people,” Bhat added.

“It was in 2014, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi set a target. He had said by the time we celebrate 150th Gandhi Jayanti, India must be a country which gives utmost importance to cleanliness. Under his initiative, people throughout the country are giving importance to cleanliness. He also requested people to take two vows. First, each and every one must think what he/she has contributed to the society and do something from their end so that the society benefits. Secondly, one should avoid plastic. One must first start cleaning his house, then his village and then city. If everyone thinks similarly, the change is possible and Udupi could be a clean city,” Bhat said.

P A Vasant Bhat, president of Udupi Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samiti, Kadiyali and Sri K Raghavendra Kini, general secretary, Anand Kallolikar, member of Nagarsabha Udupi, Dr Narayan Shenoy, HOD, MIT, Manipal, Ashok Nayak, member of Nagarsabha, Indrali, Prabhakar Poojary among others were present.
