Bengaluru, Oct 3: An unidentified man fixed a sapling in a pothole and posted a video of what he did in social websites. The pothole concerned is located near Hosmat Hospital here on Magrath Road in the city.

Apparently he wanted to bring to the attention of the authorities concerned about the condition of the road. His effort received lot of support from the people. It may be recalled that two posts of people dressed as astronauts walking on the moon by depicting the potholes as holes on the moon had attracted lot of public attention recently.

The man can be seen telling that he had planted a sapling in a pot he found on the road. "Driving on road ridden with potholes is dangerous, particularly if the rider does not wear a helmet. l have been using this road and its condition used to create lot of problems for me. This idea struck me as a possible eye opener for the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) authorities, he states.

The man is seen pouring mud into the pothole and then planting the sapling before planting a placard asking BBMP what will it do. The commuters appreciated his efforts towards drawing BBMP's attention to this grave problem. The man, wearing a helmet, says in the video that no one was angry at the sapling in the middle of the road, and most of them appreciated him. The plant stopped him from hitting the pothole, he reasoned.

The man now plans to stage this act on a bigger scale by asking volunteers to do similar planting en masse. He said he and other volunteers will continue to do this type of planting in potholes in the coming days in different areas.
