Mangalore: 'Quiz Par Excellence' - Little Rock First, DPS Runner-Up

Mangalore, Aug 1: Lourdes Central School (LCS), Bejai in the city, organized ‘Quiz Par Excellence – 2009’, an inter-school quiz competition, on Friday July 31, at St Francis Xavier Church auditorium, Bejai, here.  The quiz was sponsored by Sri Ram Group of Companies. 
 
The city-based Roshni Nilaya School of Social Work principal Dr Jacinta D’Souza inaugurated the programme at 9.00 am. 
 
Bejai assistant parish priest Fr Ajit Menezes presided over the programme. 
 
Quiz competitions were held in general, regular, buzzer, pick your options, visual and rapid rounds categories by Radio Mirchi RJ Vishwas Kamath.  
 
Twenty four teams from schools affiliated to CBSE and ICSE Boards of the Dakshina Kannada (DK), Udupi and Shimoga districts, participated in the quiz competition.
 
Sharada Residential School, Sri Satya Sai Lok Seva School, Little Rock School, St Theresa School, Sharada Vidyalaya and Delhi Public School, reached the final rounds. Little Rock Indian School, Brahmavar bagged the first place while Delhi Public School, Bala, Kuttetoor,  near here, bagged the second place.









































Grace Noronha welcomed the gathering.  Lavina Serrao proposed vote of thanks.  Deepa D’Souza compered the programme.
 
Western Range IGP Gopal B Hosur was the chief guest of the valedictory ceremony held on Friday afternoon. 
 
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Gopal Hosur congratulated the organization and appealed to the students to be thankful for their parents, teachers and Institution, for providing them with all the facilities, for enabling the students to excel in both studies and extra curricular activities. 
 
Catholic Board of Education secretary Fr Wilson Vitus D’Souza, congratulated the participants and winners of Quiz competitions.  Meanwhile, he urged the students to make the optimum use of their inherent talents and not to get discouraged, if they come across setbacks. 
 
RJ Vishwas Kamath and LCS principal Grace Noronha were present at the dais.
 
LCS vice-principal Joy Rai welcomed the gathering.
