Aspiring Model Held for Murdering Female Officer

New Delhi, Aug 6: The lure of fast money drove an aspiring model to kill a female executive in the capital last week, police said Thursday, a day after he was arrested.

Himanshu Jetly alias Honey was arrested from Alaknanda in south Delhi Wednesday for murdering Veerpal Kaur in her rented accommodation in Kalkaji July 30, a police officer said.

"Himanshu, an acquaintance of Kaur has confessed to killing her for money. He was traced down based on the phone records of the victim," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Shalini Singh said.

"Himanshu visited Kaur July 30 to return her SIM card and demanded money from her. There was a heated argument between them and he picked up a piece of iron pipe lying nearby and assaulted her," Singh said.

"Fearing for her life, Kaur gave him her ATM card and its PIN number. He killed her after that," she said.

"Himanshu was jobless and was in dire need of money for supporting a luxurious life style and getting a portfolio prepared to pursue his modelling career. After killing Kaur, he decamped with her ATM card, laptop and I-Pod after locking the doors of the room," Singh said.

Himanshu, a resident of Ludhiana in Punjab, had also withdrawn a large sum of money from the bank account of the victim using her ATM card, she added.
