Dubai, Nov 1: Under a new proposed rental law, rents for Dubai apartments cannot be increased for the first three years of signing the contract.

The law also states that the owner or his representatives cannot demand a fee/commission from the tenant to cover the administrative cost while signing or renewing the contract.

As per an Arabic daily, Emarat Al Youm, the draft, tabled for approval to the supreme legislation committee in Dubai, says that the owner may now, for any reason, increase the rent during the first three years of the signing of the contract.
