Mangalore: Instill Manners As First Step Towards Character Building

Mangalore, Aug 17: Children should be cared for as friends and also needs to be instilled manners as a first step towards character building. Parents should understand the needs of the children and not merely act as watchmen, said Abdul Salam Puttige, editor of Varthabharthi daily at the inaugural function of panel discussion organized by Hidayat Women’s Foundation at the Town Hall, here recently

Speaking as a chief guest at the panel discussion on `Our children-future generation’, he said that friendly relation means not support children in the wrong path they choose, but guide them affectionately so that they xhoose the right path. Our children needs to be inculcated right values and morals through introducing them to traditional customs in the environs of home, thus making them responsible human beings. Holy Quran also preaches that young age is the right time to teach religious customs too, he said.  

Y Muhammed Kunhi, chairman, Wakf Board inaugurated the discussion. Dr Syed Akheel Ahmed, vice-chancellor, Yenapoya University presided. 

Prof Andy Pinto from School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, M Kavitha Shastri, principal, Gujarati School of Social Work, Rajendra Bhat, National Trainer of Jaycees and Umer U H, chairman, Career Guidance and Information Centre were the resource persons.  

Kasim Ahmed H K presented the keynote address. B A Muhammed Ali was the co-ordinator for the programme. Masooda Kaur welcomed and Naushin and Abdul Razak conducted the programme.
