Mangalore, Aug 17: The district committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) protested the UPA-led central government’s failure in controlling the rise in prices of essential commodities on Monday August 17. The protest was held in front of the deputy commissioner’s office.

Addressing the protest, Monappa Bhandary, district president of the party, said, “The UPA has failed in ruling and has also failed to help the common man. It has no sympathy for the poor and working class of the country. The Congress-led government does not know to rule India or to lead as pro-people”.

“It is a protest organized nation-wide and is symbolic”, he said. Bhandary added that the BJP will hold a strong agitation if the central government fails to contain the price rise.

BJP leaders including mayor Shankar Bhat, deputy mayor Rajani Dugganna, and office-bearers Sreekar Prabhu, and Vishweswara Bhat were also present.

BJP know only how to protest. The condition of the national highways are pathetic. A drive from Mangalore to Belgaum is like traveling on the moon surface. There is absolutely no road. This is the performance of the corrupt BJP who knows only how to take bribes from mine owners who have wrecked the highway. I dont see any future for Karnataka with the BJP rule. Yedurappa needs to be sacked.

What good do these protests do, raid all the private godowns and see how much is strored and fed to the rats. Every trader knows that crops were destroyed due to yeddy''s prayer for heavy rains. North India did not receive enough rain drought has been d so he knows he can make a lot of money. why do we blame the central govt, state govt should see that grains are not hoarded. Mr. Nagesh is not using his brains and speaking not from his mouth, I think he is speaking from some where else.

The local hoarding and rupee by rupee incline is surely not CENTRAL making. Don''t belittle our traders - they have earned such wealth by their intelligent hard work. UPA/BJP doesn''t matter, they amassed their crores only because prices could be moved upwards in the name of ''PRICE-HIKE''.
