Mangalore: 'Kirthi Adventure' Founder Theodore M. Lasrado No More

Mangalore, Aug 19: Theodore M. Lasrado, founder and director of Kirthi Adventure Institute (Regd) and a familiar personality in the city of Mangalore and Dakshina Kannada District for adventurous activities passed away on 19th August 2009, after brief illness. He was 61.

Theodore, popularly known as ‘Theo’, was a teacher and NCC Officer (Army Wing) at the Canara High School, Urwa, Mangalore for over 30 years. He founded the Kirthi Adventure Institute, a registered organization, with an intention to create awareness among people and particulary among students and youth towards sports and adventurous activities. He was the Director of the institute for over 20 years and during this period he conducted several adventurous as well as personality development seminars besides expeditions to rocks and mountains..


Of late, he even extended his advisory services to the Karnataka State Fire Fighting and Coast Guard organizations.


The late Lasrado was active in religious, social and cultural circles. He was the President of Christian Life Community (CLC) not only at the Mangalore Diocesan level but also at the State and National level for many years. ‘Theo’ was the member of Mangalore Diocesan Pastoral Council. He was also active in Urwa. Parish.


Theodore has left behind his mother Magdalene Lasrado, wife Flossy (Social Worker and teacher), 3 daughters, a son and his Sister Grace Lasrado.

Funeral rites will be held at Urwa Church on 20th August, 2009 at 3.30 p.m.

    I still feel his presence , as he was a very good N C C instructor and he is the one who forged me and send me to kashmir for treking camp...really a great man ,My heartfelt condolences to his family member and may god give them courage and strength to overcome this great loss....MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE

    very sad news,Mr.Lasrado ran our NCC program when i was in Canara High School between ''''92 and 95".and he is a chemistry teacher for me.i attended too many rock climbing coureses in his keerthi institute .Sad to hear about his demise. May god bless his soul

    Mr.Lasrado ran our NCC program when i was in Canara High School between ''86 and ''90. Wonderful man with lots of energy. I''d been to many rock climbing expeditions with him. Sad to hear about his demise. May god bless his soul.
