Mangalore: SDM Law College Bathes in Onam Splendour

Mangalore, Aug 21: Various programmes were organized at Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) Law College premises here on Thursday August 20, as part of Onam festival celebrations.

Ujire SDM Education Society secretary Dr B Yashovarma, addressing the audience after inaugurating the cultural programmes, felt that celebrations of festivals like Onam that are backed by lofty ideals, are required to be organized, for instilling a sense of security, faith and meaning to life.








































"In spite of being on the fast track of globalization, India continues to conserve its uniqueness because of the fact that it continues to cherish its sublime culture and way of living," he said, and appreciated the students of the college for the efforts put in by them to conserve and support the cultural richness of the country.

BJP state vice president Anwar Manippady participated as the chief guest. Principal of the college, Dr B K Ravindra, Onam Organizing Committee president Dr P D Sebastian, convener Remil Tom and others were present.

'Onam Sadya', a feast involving 24 various delicacies that are specifically prepared for Onam festival, like Avil, Rasam, Koot Curry, Olan, Kalan, banana dish, two kinds of sweet dishes, three kinds of pickles, was served to the guests on the occasion.

    Celebration Onam has become a vogue in the educational institutions of Mangaluru. Let Malayali students celebrate Onam, but glorifying the celebration in schools and colleges is prejudicial to Kannada / Tulu cultures.

    It was really fantastic to see the college students really conduct full scale Onam celebrations as it happens in Kerala...Karavalli has lot of mallu population and it is good to see the camaraderie being displayed in this hour of need!!
