Beltangady, Aug 22: An unidentified young couple had committed suicide at Koyyur, probably two to three weeks back. The bodies of the two were found hanging from a tree on Saturday August 22. It is apparent, that the two committed suicide together a few days ago. The officials visited the site, after a man, who had ventured into the forest to collect canes for making baskets on Friday night, went to look for the source of a terrible stench that had engulfed the region, and found the bodies of the youngsters.

The two bodies were found hanging together from a tree at Pijakkala government forest in Koyyur. The policemen suspect, that they were lovers and had decided to end their lives together. The fact that most of the bodies were decomposed and that pants and shirt were found on one body and a churidar on the other, with telltale signs of hanging.

Sub-inspector of police Subbapooramutt and taluk health officer Dr Ravindranath visited the spot. So far, no clues could be collected about their whereabouts or the purpose of the suicide. The things in the possession of the two, which would have given out clues to about their identities, would have been destroyed by the rain and winds the region has been receiving.

Beltangady policemen, who have registered a case, are investigating.
