New York: Shirish N Shetty elected president of BANA

New York, Nov 25: Shirish N Shetty, was elected president of the Bunts Association of North America (BANA) for the term 2019-2021, at the recently held BANA biennial convention here. The next BANA convention will be held in the city of Atlanta.

The other executive committee members for the term 2019–2021 are Prem Shetty and Krish Shetty (vice-president), Nuthan Shetty, Anita Shetty, Abhijeet Shetty (secretary), Pranithi Shetty (treasurer), Sanjana Ballal (youth coordinator), Nischit Shetty (IT/website) and Suchith Hegde (membership).

This is the first time the biennial convention will be held in the city of Atlanta. BANA organization was started in 1981. The 2019 convention was held in New York under the leadership of Ashish Shetty. The convention was attended by more than 450 people. The BANA convention has evolved over the years to a very grand three-day affair with cultural activities, get-togethers, networking opportunity and with a focus on educating youngsters on their ancestral culture. Typically, the conventions are well attended by Bunts from all over the world.

BANA is a Bunts Association of North America, formed to help North American Bunts who had likewise made the move across the Atlantic stay connected with others in their community. The biennial BANA conventions served as joyful reunions for the North American Bunt community and now, as BANA expands into its third generation, they are also evolving into a resource for American Bunts to maintain a connection with their ancestral culture.
