Mangalore: Syrian Church - Rev B J Jacob Ordained as Asst Bishop

Mangalore, Aug 28: Rev P J Jacob Korappiscopa took oath as the Assistant Bishop of Honnavar Mission of Jacobite Syrian Church, at the Patriarch's Palace in Damascus, Syria on Sunday August 23. Patriarch of Jacobite Syrian Church, His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Zaka Iwas I, ordained Rev Jacob to the post.

His Beatitude Mor Baselious Thomas I, Indian head of Jacobite Syrian Church, episcopal  cynad secretary Bishop Joseph Mor Gregrorious, Rev Thomas Mor Aprem, Bishop Kuriakose Mor Euliose, several Bishops from Syria, priests and devotees who came from all corners of the globe, were present at the function.

Rev P J Jacob Korappiscopa holds M A degree in sociology. He has completed 30 years in religious service, after being ordained into religious order. He has served all the Jacobite Syrian churches of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, besides Honnavar.

Rev P J Facob is the son of Plantotattil K C John and Eliyamma. His family lives in Kullanki village of Kundapur taluk, Udupi district.

    "May you be a blessing to your people." This is a strange wish from one Christian religious to another Christian religious. We are all Christians of one Christ and one Bible except for our vested interests exploited through volatile, power-centric,stereotype ritualistic practices of no eternal significance.
