Mangalore: Three Critical, Five Sustain Serious Injuries in Bus Mishap Near Konaje

Mangalore, Aug 28: In a strange mishap, a private bus that deviated from the road, plunged into a ditch that is over 150 metres deep, near Puchcheda Katte, adjacent to the entrance gate of infosys building in Mudipu in the afternoon of Friday August 28. The bus rolled over while falling into the ditch. At least 30 people have been admitted into a private hospital here with injuries, out of which three are in critical condition and five are serious.
The service bus moving between the city and B C Road, bearing the name, ‘N H Travels’(KA 19 AC 786), swerved away from the road. The reason for the accident has not yet been determined, as the driver too has been seriously injured. The bus was on its routine trip between the city and B C Road through Mudipu- Konaje.
The bus rolled a few times in the hilly and bushy terrain, before coming to stop with a thud in the ditch at the time of accident.
The fire service department personnel got involved with the rescue operations, and rescued all the passengers, who were trapped inside the fallen bus.
Konaje police also have rushed to the spot.
