Mangalore: Mudipu Bus Accident caused by detached Steering Wheel, claims Driver

Mangalore, Aug 29: As of now, 24 persons injured in the accident that occurred after the bus moving to the city from B C Road via Mudipu went out of control near the Infosys gate and hurtled and rolled down a gorge on Friday August 28, are recuperating in different private hospitals in the city.
It is said, the impact of the accident would have been graver, had the bus started rolling before reaching the bottom of the gorge. The bus moved straight, bumping into stones and bushes for some distance, before overturning, it is gathered. As it was Friday, the number of passengers in the bus was far less. The total number of persons travelling in the ill-fated bus at the time of the accident has been tentatively put at 28.

Some of the passengers said, there would have been several deaths, had the falling bus not been stopped by a tree. Most of the people feel that they have survived, although with injuries, because of some miracle. A three year-old boy baby named Mohammed Faizal was thrown out of the bus through the window, as the bus raced downwards. He is the son of Razia and Ashraf from Boliyar. Ashraf works abroad and Razia was returning in the bus after visiting her parents. Those who were rescuing the passengers, head a child wailing from behind a bush and found the baby lying there unscathed. Razia is being treated in Derlakatte KSHEMA Hospital.
The driver of the bus, named Charlie, said, he lost control over the vehicle, as the steering rod got detached and the bus moved to the right side of the right, into the gorge.
Most of the injured were admitted into Derkalatte KSHEMA Hospital while a few of them are being treated in Unity Hospital and Highland Hospital in the city.
