Bantwal: Skirmish Leads to Stone Pelting—At Least 10 Injured
More than 10 people have been injured following stone pelting at Modankaup ground on Sunday August 30.
Latest reports indicate that the quarrel began after a girl, who came to participate in ‘Dasara Kreedakoota’, was teased.
The quarrel turned violent when some of those involved began pelting stones. This caused injuries to more than 10 people who are all now under treatment in various hospitals at Mangalore and B C Road. The police said that all had minor injuries and no one has been seriously injured.
Arzan (21) and Azvin (18), residents of Pallamajal in Bantwal, Anoop, Keshava, Seetharama, Gopalakrishna, Janaki, Monappa, and Ramesh, residents of Bantwal and surrounding areas are in various private hospitals in Mangalore.
Police personnel have been deployed in Bantwal and B C Road and Section 144 has been imposed.

Bantwal, Aug 30: A quarrel between two teams turned violent injuring three persons in the city on Sunday August 30 and this led the police to clamp Section 144 in the area as a precautionary measure.
Two groups from the ‘Dasara Kreedakoota’, organized by the public education department and the youth sports department at Modankaup, were involved in the incident.
It is said that some members of one team stabbed a member of the other team at Kaikamba and in retaliation a member of the first group was stabbed near B C Road. Yet another person was later injured.
All three injured have been admitted in separate hospitals at B C Road.
Police personnel have been deployed in Bantwal and B C Road. Following the imposition of Section 144 with prohibitory orders all the shops in the region downed shutters.
Police said that the situation was under control and senior officials, including superintendent of police Dr A S Rao, visited the place.
