Karkala, Aug 31: “The adventures of the youth should be encouraged. Opera Media floated by the youth deserves to be commended since they have love for Kannada and their native town”, said Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief of daijiworld.com.

He was speaking at the premier show of ‘Dhanya’, a Kannada short film by Opera Media, here on Sunday August 30. Opera Media has been promoted by famed short film producer Prakash Kabettu.

The movie focuses on young minds and the ragging problems faced by college students. Up-and-coming college artistes have been given an opportunity to prove their talent in this short movie.

The cast of the movie, its director, producer, and well-wishers gathered in large numbers to watch the premier show of ‘Dhanya’. International award winning Sandalwood director Nagatihalli Chandrashekar said, “The gap between major cities and other towns can be bridged by producing regional short films.  Decentralization is the need of the hour”.

“I remember clicking pictures of the coastline along undivided Dakshina Kannada (DK), sea erosion spots, wildlife, and others. I also have fond memories of Shivaram Karant and time spent at his ancestral home,” he said.

“Short films need creativity and imagination.  It’s an adventure to produce such a film with insight into its various difficulties”, added Chandrashekhar. Jayaprakash Mavinakuli, professor, Bhuvanendra College, was also present on the dais.

Director Prakash Kabettu proposed the vote of thanks.  Alva’s Education Foundation chairman Dr M Mohan Alva, former state minister Amaranath Shetty, G Ramakrishna Achar, and Jayanti S Bangera, conveyed best wises for the success of ‘Dhanya’.

It is need of the hour to produce such movies about ragging and other menance in college campus.along side i also suggest the producer & directors to include other problems faced by the students like recent incident of scarf issue, in a positive approach without hurting the sentiments of any community. The message shoud be ,in my opinion,on religious tolerence, universal brotherhood.I hope the director understands my viewpoint. All the best for "DHANYA".
