Mangalore, Sep 6: An organization to promote the brotherhood among laity, United Christian Association (UCA) was inaugurated at a programme in Lions Seva Mandir, Mallikatte, Kadri here on on Sunday September 6.

The inaugural function was graced by Fr V J Menezes, who blessed the occasion. Association president Alban Menezes inaugurated the organization by unveiling the organization’s logo.

Speaking on the occasion, advocate Stany D’Costa, who was the chief guest said that the organizations need to fight for justice when the constitutional right of a human being is under threat. Every human being in the society has the right to live, he said.

Victor Rodrigues, noted Konkani writer said that the associations are the voice of the people, which help develop culture and literature.

Association president Alban Menezes said that the association was formed to unite society brethren and teach them co-existence. Association will try to help the needy, sufferers due to injustice and also work for the upliftment of the poor.

The cassette titled Somia maka bogshi comprising Konkani devotional songs by Wilfred and Clifford, Kulshekar was released by Charles on the occasion.

Maurice D’Sa, Konkani journalist was also the chief guest. Association vice-president Joe Rego and secretary Vincent D’Cunha were also present. Association directors Jeevan Vas compered the programme and Marceline Mascarenhas proposed the vote of thanks.

Hi Jesudas and Oscar, Thanks for the clarifications. I am very much convenienced now about the role played by advocate D’ costa in the past and the role he is aspiring in the future. We are wishing him every success against all odds from our own polity clergy.

Dear Mr/Mrs L Fernandes, The problem is that ur aunty visited the function only for 5 MINUTES and so she did not get to percieve the entire concept :) The speaker was just stating in few facts which im sure you cannot deny is wrong. The speaker was just stating a few facts and only the guilty would be "insulted" the accusations hit only the people who are wrong and not right! I ONCE AGAIN CLARIFY "THIS ASSOCIATION S NOT DIRECTED AGAINST THE PRIESTS OR THE CHURCH. WE HAVE HAD A GREAT RAPPORT WITH THE PRIESTS RIGHT FROM THE DAYS WE WERE SMALL. however some PEOPLE WITH HIDDEN INTERESTS ARE TRYING TO PORTRAY A WRONG IMAGE ABOUT THIS ASSOCIATION.KINDLY FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME YOUR DOUBTS AT melroy.lobo@gmail.com

fine Anil. You are right 100%. Aunty on her way back from her meeting had been there for only 5 minutes as one of the speaker was accusing and insulting our dear Priests without knowing the value and holiness of a Priest. May God forgive him. We do not want such organisations.

Dear Osacar Thanks. Based upon your clarification, associatoin should have been baptized as United Roman Catholic Assoication rather than United Christian Association. If Christian, all other Christian denominations should have been invited or that matter New Life Fellowship too for co-existence .... Take it easy. This is only a suggestion. Thanks. Arun

Congratulations to all the organizers of United Christian association. Especially I appreciate the services rendered by Mr.Stanley D''Costa since the attack on Christians. I know personally that Mr. D''Costa has done a commendable job in releasing the innocent people of Ullal and Permannur. Though the credit has been taken by some others Mr.D''Costa was in the court throughout 3 days in releasing the innocent. Further because of the influence of clergy and their advisors Mr. D''Costa was sidelined and was not allowed to serve the innoncent during the court cases and as well as before the Justice Somashekar Commission of Enquiry on conversion. I know personally MR. d''Costa was chosen by the Lawyers Guild of the Diocese to head a 8 members Lawyers committee before the Commission. Even that responsibility was also deprived to him and his team of advocates. At least the united christians association has recognised his services and given him an opportunity to serve the public. We are with you Mr. D''Costa continue your good services.

Dear Mr.Arun Kumar, for your information there are boats successfully sailing without Radar with Digital Radar Less Antennas ... now coming back to the topic 1.The priest that has inaugurated the program was one from the christian clergy itself 2. About Mr. D’ Costa: on 14th Sep he was all alone and was not able to respond those goons who were involved in the church attack, hence he has joined this union 3. Motive of Mr. Alban, if government has failed to uplift the poor, you cannot claim that others cannot put forth their minimum efforts to bring up the poor 4. Yup, no other religion than Catholics were invited, since this is united Christian Association we cannot involve any other communities than christians in the office bearers team and for your info all other communities were invited for the program by pasting banners almost every place in Mangalore I hope now Mr. Lawyer all your questions against this organization are cleared …. Regards Oscar

Where is the boat is sailing without the radar ?. We did not find any representatives from different Christian communities to call itself a United Christian Association ? How you will promote brotherlyhood among laity without the support of secular Priests or other Christian clergy ? None of them were present except from one religious order !. Being an advocate, as per my knowledge, where Mr. D’ Costa was he during last year Sept. 14th while there as mass attack in our churches ? Did he then fight for justice when the constitutional rights for the minority were under threat ?. Association president Alban Menezes says that “ association was formed to unite society brethren and teach them co-existence. Association will try to help the needy, sufferers due to injustice and also work for the upliftment of the poor” Mr. Alban, don’t you think that your objectives are full of abstractions specially uplifting of the poor ?. Being a new association where are your resources to meet that end? Even Indian Govt. has not succeeded on that perceptive !! . Secondly, none of members of other religions i.e Hindus, Muslims were present per se ?. What do you mean then unite society brethren for co-existence ?. However, occasionally it is good to see new platforms lingering to be personified !

One more association! We have enough Christian associations in Mangalore. Many people want to be the founders of the association and after some time they disappear. Instead of forming new associations let''s put our efforts built our unity through the existing organisations. Otherwise there will be no unity among us.

It is a appreciatable step by our brotherians but it is not the need of the hour. We being a Christians the formed UCA should not be a relegious associaton as it may spoil the name of our peace loving Christian community in the days to come. First we should understand the True values of Christianity and should initiate those in our lives and should show and make it known to our fellow brotherians what is true Christian Society is? We should mingle with others and should spread the real living values of christ in them.

Congratulations ! We need to support and encourage such organIsations, rather allow such ventures to die an untimely death. The members need to work hard with all their sincerity for the improvement of this organisation. Quite often we inaugurate such ventures with great pomp and show  but are unaware of the disease that hollows the organisation from within. We need to be of one body and of one mind when it comes to decision making. All the christains need to support and keep the organisation alive.LONG LIVE U.C.A.

Welcome to the existence of another new organisation. It is rightly said every human being in the soceity has the right to live and the associations are the voice of the people which help to develop culture and literature. What about the people who suffer in the service sector. Is there anybody to uplift them and fight for the injustice caused to them .even our own christian brethren are not prepared for this . There too applies the theory of ''Pick and Choose''.With all good wishes watching the activities of the association with keen interest. Ln. Juliet
