Mangalore, Sep 8: The Carmelites of Infant Jesus Shrine celebrated the feast of the Nativity of Our Lady, popularly known as ‘Monthi Fest’, with pomp and gaiety.

The Solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr Archibald Gonsalves, provincial of Karnataka-Goa province of Discalced Carmelites with the other Carmelite priests as concelebrants. The new corn was blessed near the Grotto of Our Lady of Mount Carmel by Fr George Santhumayor. Fr Stephen Pereira in his homily appealed the congregation to take Mary as model and live a life fitting to our call. Fr Pereira compared the qualities of a flower to the virtues of Mother Mary like spiritual beauty, generosity, humility, faithfulness to Jesus and highlighted the real meaning of offering the flowers to Mother Mary.

Fr Santhumayor proposed the vote of thanks. Novena was conducted as a preparation for the feast.
