Mangaluru: Police firing during anti-CAA protest – State government orders CID probe

Mangaluru, Dec 23: State government has ordered an investigation by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) in order to know the truth behind the police firing that killed two people during protests over Citizenship Amendment Act on December 19.

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, during his visit to the city, on Saturday has said, "The police have fired bullets on the mob who tried to put fire to the police station and also tried to snatch the weapons from the armoury of the police station. In order to know the truth a suitable inquiry will be conducted." Accordingly, the CM has informed on Monday, December 23 that the investigation of the incident was handed over to CID.

In addition, the chief minister also said that he has ordered stringent action against the people who attacked the police station. He also hoped that Mangaluru will be peaceful in future and there is no problems for Muslims due to the Citizen Amendment Act (CAA).

On December 19, two people died in the police firing during the anti-CAA protest, which turned violent.

    Stringent action required against uncivilzed cops, whom you have trained and employed ...train them to be human and handle situation..
    Protesting is a democratic right...
    Why did you put curfew and section 144 ???
    This is a democratic country...people have to express their opinions...
    The situation worsened when police misbehaved with public specially on students, old... police attrocity is the very reason which annoyed the public to go for more wild protest... Need a wise top cop than a cowardice in replace
