Bengaluru, Dec 25: BJP state president, Nalin Kumar Kateel, revealed that the issue of placing blanket ban on Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and Popular Front of India (PFI) is under active consideration by the state government as these organizations have been found to be directly responsible for the disturbances in Mangaluru which occurred during the protest organized there against Citizenship Ammendment Act (CAA) by various organizations.

He was addressing the reporters at the BJP office here on Tuesday December 24.

Nalin said that the CCTV footages have clearly shown who pelted stones during the protests at Mangaluru, where they came from, and what was their aim. Some of the miscreants had come from Kerala for the specific purpose of fomenting trouble, he claimed. He said that further investigation is being conducted and evidences are being put together, and they will be placed before the public in due course.

He pointed out that in Kashmir, people used to pelt stones at the police by covering their faces with clothes. "The trouble mongers who came from outside the state aped the Kashmiri model of creating unrest. Both SDPI and PFI have been planning to execute communal clashes," he reasoned.

Nalin stated that the indications about what one can expect during the protests could be found in the statement made by former state minister, U T Khader, duly pointing out that disturbances broke out in Mangaluru the very next day of his statement.

"Before the protests were held, the city police commissioner had invited leaders of all the organizations and held a peace meet. But in violation of orders in place, protest was held and disturbances were created with the active support of miscreants who came from Kerala. "The police resorted to caning the protesters when the situation was on the verge of going out of control. When the protesters attacked the police, they cannot be expected to remain silent. The trouble in Mangaluru was fuelled by goondas and anti-social elements," he alleged.

Nalin recollected that when delivering an address in the past, he had become emotional and talked about fire getting ignited allover the district but had later apologized for the mistake. "At that time, no clashes or disturbances happened. But after U T Khader spoke of fire, disturbances happened at Mangaluru. One can easily relate the two," he added.
