Dubai, Dec 25: St Mary's Mangalorean Community (SMMC) Dubai is glad to announce its forthcoming first mega event of the year 2020 - 'SMMC Sports 2020'. It will be a day-long outdoor sports event with cricket, volleyball and throwball tournaments at the Vision Cricket Centre, Nazwa, Oman-Hatta Road, on February 21, 2020.
Since its commencement in 2013, SMMC, a fast growing and popular Mangalurean organization at St Mary's Catholic Church, Dubai is functioning to fulfill the spiritual and community requirements of the huge Mangalurean Konkani community of Dubai and has been successfully organizing various events like dramas, sports events, competitions, stage programmes, feast celebrations etc.
SMMC has been successfully organizing sports events for the past five consecutive years. This year too, the SMMC core committee under the guidance of spiritual director Fr Denis Saldanha intends to make this first major venture of the organization of 2020 a gratifying event of the year.
SMMC requests generous support from the Konkani community for this event, through significant contribution and active participation to make the event a spectacular one.
Like every year, this popular sports event is a full day outdoor event, open only for Christian (any nationalities) teams with UAE resident visa, where skilled teams from different emirates are expected to participate. Attractive cash prizes and trophies will be presented to the winning teams and individuals too for their exceptional performance.
Teams are invited to play in the following categories:
Cricket (Men)
Volleyball (Men)
Throwball (Women)
Registration fee will be AED 500 per team. It will be open on 'first come first serve' basis. Water and lunch will be provided for each participating team member.
To participate, one may send team's contact details to email: smmcdubai@yahoo.com and the forms will be forwarded for registration. Also, registration forms can be collected from Fr Denis Saldahna's office at St Mary's Church, Dubai or from any of the core team member.
