Udupi: CM Yediyurappa inaugurates Rs 2-crore 'Swacchangana' toilet complex

Udupi, Dec 25: Karnataka chief minister B S Yediyurappa on Wednesday December 25 inaugurated 'Swacchangana' toilet complex built at a cost of Rs 2 crore. He also inaugurated and participated in 'Chinnara Masatsava -2019' at Rajangana, Sri Krishna Math.

"The hi-tech toilet complex is built for devotees. This is a good concept and promotes the ‘clean India’ message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The PM has given a call for Swacch Bharat. All should give priority for the same. Awareness should be created on maintaining cleanliness. Let us join our hands in building a clean and stable nation," said Yediyurappa.

"Parents have a huge responsibility towards their children. Let the children receive good education, good morals and become good citizens of this country. Let us keep our surroundings clean. Health is important for the comprehensive development of our nation. Parents should encourage talents of their children," he said.

"Chinnara Santharpana, a mid-day meal for students was started by Pejawer senior seer in Sri Krishna Math 16 years ago. This is a model project in the state," he added.

Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji in his blessings said, "Lord Krishna loves serving mid-day meals for children. The main purpose of this project is to ensure that no child is malnourished."

Swamiji further said, "The whole nation should be kept clean. In keeping this view, MRPL extended support for completing this hi-tech toilet." He also appreciated the CM for handling the natural calamities that hit the state.

The Swacchanagana was built at a cost Rs 2 crore. The complex has two floors. Each floor has are 12 toilets with six Indian and six western style commodes and four wash. There is also a ladies dressing room. Sanitary napkin disposal machine has been installed in ladies' section, and four urinals in the gents' section.

Around 5 lac capacity sump water tanker has been built at a cost of Rs 50 lac and a 20,000 ltr capacity overhead tank has also been installed.

Sri Krishna Math Parisara Pratishtana will maintain the cleanliness in the complex. The project has been undertaken by MRPL-ONGC under CSR activity, said M Venkatesh, mangaging director, MRPL.

Prizes for the winners of the competitions were distributed. Several cultural competitions were organised for the students for almost a month.

Sri Vidyarajewshwara Theertha swamiji, junior seer Palimaru math, G Jagadeesh, deputy commissioner, Anand Kallolikar, CMC commissioner, Basavaraj Bommai, State home minister, Shobha Karandlaje, MP, Udupi- Chikkamagaluru, Kota Srinivas Poojary, minister for Muzarai, Harbour and Inland transport , M Venkatesh, mangaging director, MRPL and others were present.

    They should also build toilets for every Rickshaw stand in Udupi, as these guys urinate in the open.

    They should also close down all the bars and liquor shops in Udupi around the temple vicinity, to save those families of the drunkard labourers and Rickshaw drivers. There are more than 30 liquor shops
    and bars/outlets in a small area of Udupi of less than 3Km.

    Good news. There was no proper and clean toilets in Udupi City. Hope there is no decremenation for using Toilets.

    After DEMONitisation..., people don't have means to eat..., but toilets are built .... for what....!!!!

    How much went to toilet drainage from 2 croes... Of toilet complex. Hope toilet dint eaten much. Hope maintained quality well.
