Kundapur, Dec 26: After 10 days of the ghastly murder of bike-borne Babu Shetty, who was chased and hacked to death in broad daylight, police arrested six accused and produced them to Kundapur court.
Giving details about the murder ASP Hariram Shankar said, "Personal enmity is the reason for the murder of Babu Shetty. Thejappa Shetty (68), a relative of the deceased Babu Shetty, is the main accused of this case. He is named as accused number one in the case."
"It is said that a scuffle had taken place between deceased Babu Shetty and accused Thejappa Shetty quite some time ago with regards to the stabbing incident of Harish Shetty and Santhosh Shetty. For the same reason, Thejappa Shetty decided to kill Babu Shetty and hatched the plot along with the second accused Udayaraj Shetty (55), a resident of Shetrakatte. The duo were joined by Ramesh Poojary (25), a resident of Kenchanoor, Praveen Poojary (25), a resident of Anagalli, Sachin Poojary (21), a resident of Basruru and Raghavendra Poojary (24), a resident of Anagalli." said ASP Hariram Shankar.
Hariram Shankar further said, "Several arguments and scuffles have taken place between deceased Babu Shetty and the main accused Thejappa Shetty in the past many years. In the two latest incidents, IPC 307 was slapped on Thejappa Shetty and his gang. They decided to kill Babu Shetty as his witness will cause issues to Thejappa Shetty and gang."
