Mangaluru, Dec 31: With MP Nalin Kumar Kateel’s another deadline of inaugurating flyover hovering around, Congress’ fact-finding committee with leaders former minister B Ramanath Rai, MLC Ivan D'Souza, former MLA J R Lobo and others visited the flyover construction site on Tuesday, December 31.

Speaking at the site, MLC Ivan D'Souza said that MP Nalin has been fooling the public this long. He said, “MP Nalin had said that he would get the construction work by end of December and also set January first week as a deadline for inaugurating the flyover. We can see here that the constriction is still on. This seems like never ending. The engineers here said that another three months would be taken for completing the project.

“To condemn this lethargic attitude of the MP, Congress will hold a protest on January 1 at 4 pm here,” he said.

It may be recalled, speaking at a press meet on November 16, MP Nalin had said, “The flyover will be inaugurated in the first week of January 2020.”

The construction of the flyover began back in September 2010 at an estimated cost of Rs 671 crore. The flyover had to be completed in March 2013. The deadline for completion has been breached eight times now.

    The BJP never miss chance to blame the 70 years past of Congress ruling. when it comes to its own ruling even 10 years is not enough to complete single project.
    The Balkan country Montenegro, Chinese is building the first phase -- 41 km in length at a cost of 809 million euros (about 937 million U.S. dollars).
    If 1 Billion = 100 crores considering the Rs 671 Crores construction cost;
    671 million (or 0.671 billion) is therefore equal to 67.1 crores (6710 lakhs).
    The cost to construct one lane-mile of a typical 4-lane divided highway can range from $3.1 million to $9.1 million per lane-mile in rural areas depending on terrain type and $4.9 million to $19.5 million in urban areas depending on population size. This project has nearly $1 Billion for which Chinese would have built the international standard perhaps connected the Surthkal with Mangalore city.
    This project seems to be "Mahagotala" and to substandard highway quality.

    This Mangalore MP set new record even the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan should be ashamed for constructing UNESCO heritage 'Taj Mahal'.
    Though Taj Mahal started construction in 1632 in mausoleum completed 1643 and five years for landscaping and gates without any heavy equipment, this Pump-well has taken half the construction period in the modern era civil construction.
    The opposition parties instead of surveying should have raised the construction cost.

    Very unfortunate that people still believe in fairy tales. The BJP give is a fairy tale party and has mesmerized the people although they have destroyed the country. It's all a hype, a bubble, that will burst sometime soon. And the pumpwell flyover will never see the day, perhaps for the next 6 months. And blind people will still core for them, even though there won't be food for them to eat.

    This is what we deserve. This is the outcome when people vote out of hatred and not out of intellect. And the people who vote for such inefficient MP are actually the so called educated people of Mlore.
    They shud realise that they have put their hatred towards a community ahead of the nation.
    This is wat we deserve.
