Bengaluru, Jan 3: Defying the general picture painted by the opposition leaders that chief minister B S Yediyurappa lacks the guts to put forth a vociferous demand for flood fund from the central government, the chief minister, on Thursday January 2, openly demanded fair share of money for the state to combat devastation let loose by unprecedented flood situation it had faced.

For this act, Yediyurappa has earned the goodwill and praise of the people from different fields. During his address at the Kissan Samman function held on Thursday January 2 at Tumakuru, Yediyurappa told Modi that the state had been battered by incessant drought and flood. He said that the state had lost heavily in the floods here but the centre had not come to the state's rescue even though he had reminded it on several occasions.

The central leaders have realized that Yediyurappa has a huge following, going by the fact that he was the most prominent factor which helped the party to win bypoll convincingly. As he has proved his mettle, the central leaders seem to be having a soft corner for him. The leaders had planned to rein in Yediyurappa by forcing him to admit three deputy chief ministers but now they have mellowed down because of Yediyurappa’s show of eminence. Perhaps, encouraged by the turn of events, Yediyurappa was vocal in demanding funds from the centre.
