Mangalore, Sep 22:
“Most people do not have faith in Ayurveda, the India system of medicine. But it has survived due its own specialty and there are many instances where it has cured diseases given up on by experts in other branches of medicine”, said Dr Shrilatha Shetty, medical officer, Vishwa Vaidya Ayurvedashram at Vamanjoor.

At a press meet held recently at the Ayurvedashram, she explained about the rare instance where a fully paralyzed person was cured by Ayurveda.

Dr Shetty said that Ayurveda takes time to cure a disease, but at the same time it requires the patients to believe in and follow the system of medicine. “Most the people lose faith in a few days and switch to another system of medicine”, she added.

Twenty-four-year-old Yashavanth is a success story and has recovered from total paralysis. He said, “I am able to walk after four months of therapy at Vishwa Vaidya Ayurvedashram”. He expressed the desire to start working soon.

“Yashavanth was first treated at another hospital in the city where his doctors ruled out the possibility of recovery and suggested that we go home”, said his mother Susheela. “We had no money, so we put our faith in God. But when I contacted Dr Shrilatha Shetty, her assurances gave me a ray of hope”, she recalled.

Susheela added that they had not paid anything for the treatment. “During my first visit to the Ayurvedashram, I pleaded for help and Dr Shetty assured free treatment for my son and gave a new lease of life to him”, she said in an emotional voice.

Dr Shetty said, “He was brought to Ayurvedashram in a semi-conscious state. I decided to treat him free of cost as a social service”, she said adding “Money is not an answer to everything. I can see happiness on the faces of a mother and a son, which is more valuable than money”.

Equipped for all types of Ayurveda treatments, the Ayurvedashram has been operating for nine months at Vamanjoor and is located opposite St Joseph Engineering College. Directors of Ayurvedashram Bhaskara Arasa and Shivaprasad Shetty were also present.

There are many people who are deprived of proper medical attention either due to lack of money or due to lack of knowledge. Hats off Dr. Shetty and Ayurvedashram for taking up such a noble cause. Thanks to DW to publish such news. Well when such cases recur, the Ayurvedashram can seek the assistance thru media and i am sure readers will come up and support such causes. However it is joint and several responsibility of general public to support social welfare projects.

"Money is not an answer to everything. I can see happiness on the face of a mother and son, which is more valuable than money". If other Doctors will follow this divine motto, it would have been great. God may richly bless you Dr.Shrilath Shetty, so that you can bring light and hope to thousands of helpless people in the future.

Congrats...! hey i truly believe in Ayurveda and I fully indebted to it. I had the problem of catching sore throat almost at the drop of hat. I consulted best of the Allopathic doctors in Mangalore. Some said it is due to my low immunity and some said it is due to allergy and that there is no treatment! I consulted Ukkinadka, Kodialbail. He suggested few tablets and kashaya. It is working like a magic and he said it is a minor allergy. I am much better and having a normal life. I seriously suggest people to try ayurveda or homeopathy and do not rush to allopathy if situation does not warrant so.

Congratulations Dr. Srilatha Shetty....Doctors like you are a few in this world, who work not only for money but as a social service also. I still remember Dr. Edward Lobo, who is also a person like you who believed social service first than money. No doubt ayurveda is best, one of my foreman was cured of spondilytis without surgery.

I remember my grand ma, who got Paralysis attack and her allopathy doctor told to take rest for many days with medicine and some exercise. one month passed and nothing happend. Then some body suggested a ayurvedic doctor from bokkapattna his name is Dr. Puttran. He came and said this much time would not have been wasted, he gave medicine and oil and also suggested to make lot of exercise. to our surprise within one week my grand ma got up and started walking and by one month her twisted lower jaw was in right shape. I am in USA from last few years and people prefer Ayurveda than allopathy. It works well for many disease and it makes you strong internally

Congratulations Dr. Mrs. Shrilatha Shetty. What a dedicated service, that also free of cost for four months to a paralysed man and giving him a new lease of life. Its very hard to see such a noble service these days, where medical profession has become a business. Keep up the good work and wish you all the best.

Firstly Congratulations to Dr.Shrilatha Shetty.Hats off to you madam for ur dedication n service.wish u all the best. Thank You Daiji for this Artical on Ayurveda. Ayurveda does wonders in many of the diseases related to skin & neurology. The diseases which has no cure in other system of medicine has hopes in ayurveda. degenerative diseases of joints can be cured with simple medicines rather then going for expensive surgeries. The importance of ayurveda n ayurvedic medicines are more understood n studied more by the western then the indians.after the research n make the ayurvedic drug patent there n the market it back to india n rest of the world with high profile ads signed by celebraties. Then we indian start buying their products saying it is the best. but very few understand that it is our own drug grown in our own country n it has been explained in our ayurvedic classics more than 5thousands yrs ago buy our brilliant sages or rishis.
