Daijworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jan 4: It is gathered that more than Rs two crore is already collected from the minority community for the affected people of anti-CAA violence and police firing that occurred in the city on December 19.

The ruling BJP government had initially declared an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lac each to the families of the two people who died in police firing. However, the same was withdrawn later as the victims were named as accused in the FIR of police. Many Muslim organizations had expressed their objection for the policy of the government.

Dakshina Kannada Muslim Association had openly given a statement not to accept the compensation given by government, instead seek help from the community members. Former minister and MLA U T Khader and former MLA Mohiuddin Bava had also said that the Muslim community has the capacity to help the victims of anti-CAA violence. The police sources have said that various Muslim organizations have collected more than Rs two crore for this purpose.

According to the available information there is a possibility of giving Rs 25 lac each to the families of Nausheen Kandak and Jaleel Kudroli, who died in the police firing. The rest of the amount will be distributed among the eight people who are injured in the violence. It is also learnt that this compensation will be distributed in a huge programme, which will be held in Mangaluru. But no official confirmation from the concerned has come out so far in this regard.

The families of the deceased in the police firing have already received Rs 7.5 lac each from Congress, Rs five lac each from JD (S) and Rs five lac each from the West Bengal government.

@Almeida , did you for get the 2008 church attack, ? RSS goons vandalized the prayer halls and ultimately common people protested. There were stone pelting which was expected behavior when some one hurt the sentiments . Do you justify that reaction from the common people ?
