Bengaluru: Yediyurappa unhappy about quantum of flood relief released

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 8: Karnataka chief minister, B S Yediyurappa, said that the compensation so far released by the central government towards flood relief is grossly insufficient. He expressed the confidence that the centre will sanction more funds for this purpose.

Speaking to media persons at Vidhna Soudha, he said, "Immediately after returning from his Karnataka visit, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, announced package of Rs 1,869 crore. In the coming days, the centre will be extending more financial assistance to the state in phases. Initially, a sum of Rs 1,200 crore was released. Now, Rs 1,869 crore has been released. I thank the Prime Minister for releasing funds for addressing flood losses," he stated.

Yediyurappa said that the amount so far released is grossly insufficient and that the state is in need of more assistance. He expressed the confidence that the centre will send more funds to Karnataka soon.

Yediyurappa clarified that pre-budget sessions are being held now, and promised to come up with a good budget. He said he plans to present a budget that is pro-farmers.
