Udupi: Ascending paryaya, Sri Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji gets rousing welcome

Udupi, Jan 8: Sri Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji of Admar math, who will be ascending Sarvajna Peetha for the next two years, received a rousing welcome by the Sri Krishna Seva Balaga as part of Pura Pravesha at Jodukatte here on Wednesday, January 8.

In a unique move, Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji reached the Krishna math by walk. He was followed by the palanquin, where ‘pattada devaru’ (deity) was kept.

The deity was carried in a grand procession accompanied with folk performance and cultural extravaganza. The students of Poorna Prajna College performed dances. Bhajans were sung. Band set, Chende, folk instruments were played. Tiger dance, ‘Panchavadya’, ‘Thaleemu’, ‘Kangeelu’, ‘Dandiya’, puppet show were performed.

There were more than 57 troupes who participated in the procession. Pejawar Swamiji fans distributed cold drinks to devotees.

Thousands of devotees witnessed traditional Pura Pravesha.

Sri Vishwa priya Theertha Swamiji of Admar Math, Basavaraj Bommai, home minister, Shobha Karandlaje MP of Udupi Chikkamagaluru, Kota Srinivas Poojary, Muzarai minister, K Raghupati Bhat, MLA, U R Sabhaathi, M B Puranik, president of Sri Krishna Seva Balaga and other members were participated.

The procession moved through Court Road, PPC road, Diana circle, KM Marga, Thenku Pete and culminated at Car Street.
