Mangalore: St Aloysius Hosts Inter-collegiate Konkani Competitions

Mangalore, Sep 26: ‘Sangaath Suvaalo’, the inter-collegiate Konkani competition organized by Konkani Association was held at St Aloysius College (SAC) on Saturday September 28. It was to celebrate the 15th year of the Association.
Competitions in singing, dance, comedy, and collage-making were held and saw the participation of 15 colleges from the district.
Edvin J F D’Souza, executive director, Konkani institution, inaugurated the competition. Concepta Fernandes, programming officer, All India Radio, was the chief guest and Fr Francis Almeda, campus minister of SAC, presided over the inaugural programme.
The programme with Konkani cultural dances, songs, and comedy bits, entertained the students.
Prizes for winners were distributed at the valedictory programme. Eric Ozario, president, ‘Mannd Sobhan’ was the chief guest at the programme. Konkani writer Gladys Rego and Sweebert D’Silva, principal of the college, distributed the prizes.
Severine Pinto, president of Konkani Sangh, secretary Ashwin Kumble, and cultural secretary Roshan Pajeer were also present.
