Mangalore, Sep 28: Police arrested two persons for plotting and executing the murder of Abdul Kareem alias Shameer at Capitanio here. He was found murdered in his rented flat at Shyam Complex, Capitanio here on Sunday September 13

Speaking to media persons, superintendent of police Dr A S Rao on Monday September 28 said that extra-marital relationship and physical abuse were the reason for the murder. The arrested are identified as Shamshad (28), Kareem’s wife and Venkatesh (32), basically from Rajendra Nagar in Mysore and a resident of a flat in the same complex as Kareem. The murder was plotted and executed by the duo particularly with the inducement from the deceased’s wife, who was frustrated with her husband’s philandering ways and physical abuse.

The involvement of deceased’s wife came to light after the police team arrested Venkatesh in Mysore after thorough investigation revealed his connection to the murder. Shamshad plotted the murder of Kareem about two weeks prior to his murder and involved Venkatesh with whom she once shared an illegitimate relationship. As per the plot, Venkatesh made a futile attempt to murder Karrem on September 10. But as circumstances proved to be against him, Venkatesh left for Mysore.

However, Shamshad on a telephonic conversation with Venkatesh through a mobile phone provided to her by Venkatesh summoned him to Mangalore to kill Kareem on September 12. As per her instructions he came to Mangalore and stayed in a lodge. On September 12 midnight, Shamshad tied Kareem’s legs and Venkatesh placing a pillow on Kareem’s face suffocated him to death. On facing resistance, Venkatesh hit Kareem with a wooden stick until he lay dead. Later, Venkatesh moved out of the house locking Shamshad in another room and traveled back to Mysore in the day.

Dr A S Rao said that the murder was plotted after a fight ensued between Kareem and Venkatesh over the money lent by the latter to the former. The delay in arresting of the accused was due to misguiding statements given by Shamshad about her suspicion being on a person from Andhra Pradesh from whom Kareem had looted Rs 30 lac when abroad, said Dr A S Rao.

A total of Rs 15,000 as cash reward for the police team headed by Mangalore rural circle inspector Lingappa B R and sub-inspector Prakash K, who successfully investigated the murder and brought before the law the murderers was awarded on the occasion.

Yes police should show her face to public. Crime is common in mangalore now but wife killing husband is unusuall. Just imagine how cruel is she, killing her husband even though she is having two kids of Kareem. Mangalore Mahila sangatan should make more awareness to the mangalorian lady/s not to make crime just to inform them by phone,e-mail, fax and rush to solve the problems immediatly. I have also noticed Mahila sangattan is just supporting ladies instead of justifiying the truth

This lady had the other best option of applying for KHULA (divorce request from wife )rather than killing him. Khula is granted within 5-10 months of application depending on the situation. In her religion divorcee or a widow doesnt have to remain single throughout her life. She can marry & lead the normal life.Having given all the solution.

Dear Lovina Goa, how easily you are defending the culprits of a henious crime and justifying the extra marital relationship resulting into murder of the spouse! I am afraid its not a case of " Birds of same feather......" If you deceive your spouse with "Purdha" or without Purdha, its a crime, which is always condemnable. someone rightly said being a Muslim women she had other options like, Talaq(divorce by husband) Khula (right of the wife to get divorce) and Fasakh ( right of the Qazi to nullify the marraige at wife's demand) which is to meet the different situations arising out of human nature.

But the lust for sex with different persons may not be satisfied with one husband to many wives and adultery causes frictions in marital life. Many of the times this is the root cause for "Torture" by the husband and someday it ends in grusome murder. The sanctity of the marital life can only be safe and protected if we follow the path shown by the Almighty, and willfully discard the perversions and ill desires proked by the devil. Be God fearing and never follow the Satanic Path. That's the key for happy and satisfied life!

Murder is out right condemnable. But you readers tend to conveniently overlook the torture part. Over the years how many repeated "hangings" she has already gone through. Perhaps, if he were kind, caring and understanding this unsavoury incident would not have ever taken place.

I am asking a question to the readers who say that muslim personal law should be done away with. NOw for this crime committed by a muslim lady Indian Penal Law is applied and applicable. In India muslim only follow muslim personal law in civil matters like marriage, inheritance, divorce, seperation etc. But in all aspects of criminal matters and other non civil matters Indian law is applicable.

By following muslim personal law for civil matters in India, one cant tag an Indian muslim as anti Indian or anti national. The personal law has been followed by muslims since inception of Islam and there was no problem with the followers. Now why do the rest of Indians have problems in muslim personal law when the followers have no problems in following it.

I suspected the wife from the beginning, this has a similarity to the Vamanjoor case.Otherwise just imagine somebody entering the house and murdering ,while the inmates are sleeping and unaware of the situation is nonsense.I had a doubt in the vamanjoor case also.

Both deserves capital punishment. It must be a lesson to rest of the Indians. She had other options to get rid of her husband in her religion. That is Khula(talaq or divorse) instead of killing him.Now let them reap what they sow.Police must see that all the loopholes in filing FIR be plugged properly so that the culprits,if they are,do not go scot free.
