Bantwal, Oct 4: Locals staged a protest on Sunday October 4 in front of the rural police station, here, alleging failure of the police in tracing a missing woman.

Twenty-two-year-old Anita, a resident of Barimar village, was reported missing on June 17 after she left home informing her parents that she was going to a dental clinic in B C Road.

The protestors said that despite complaints being lodged with the superintendent of police at the DK district centre, Mangalore, no investigation reports have been made public.  They urged the local police to expedite the probe and trace the missing woman at the earliest.

Sri Rajashekaranand Swami of Vajradehi Mutt, Gurpur, addressing the protesters, said, “ ‘Love Jehad’ seems active in DK district wherein women are induced by fake displays of love to join terrorists and to assist in their destructive activities”.

The Swami also appealed to the women of the community to be on guard and to desist from involvement in any such activities.

Coastal Development Authority chairman B Nagaraj Shetty met the protesters and instructed the police officers to trace the missing woman within 15 days.

Police circle inspector Nanjunde Gowda and sub-inspector Shiva Prakash also assured of quick action in the matter.

Macchendra Salian, Prasad Kumar, Sarapady Ashok Shetty, Annayya Kulal, town council member Govind Prabhu, and Devdas were present at the protest.

Well said Raj. We should look to the incident in light of new development of Mohan Kumar. And this kind of incidence is much more dangerous than Love Jehad. We should educate our sisters and daughters to freely talk to parents before taking any soft corner on anyone.

most of the comments for this article is hysteric. The swamiji has shown concern about missing girl, he mentioned about recent happening of love jihad. Where is the fault? he has aked the police to trace the girl as earliest as possible. does he said the girl who is miising is taken by Muslims for jihad? Why all especially muslims and christians have to get irritated by this post. If a muslim or a christian girl misses, What do you do?

Let allow Police to do their work. It is better if religious leaders sit inside and do religious works instead of giving all communal colors to the incidents

Hitherto politicians are taking political mileage outof missing cases. Now swamijis are following politicians foot steps.Swamiji should have gone to police station or to home minister's office to lodge a complaint and see how it worked ,instead of giving such a venomous statement.I totally agree with the comments of Raghu,Shanker,Nithesh and Gladson.

Nithtesh you have said it all. When no one knows (at least as per per the report) what has happened with the said girl and where she is gone, holding a protest itself is ridiculous. And the respected Swamiji delivering a provocative speech is not expected. But in our undivided Dakshina Kannada these things are common since the administration and some fanatic organization work hand in glove along with the police officials.

Why these organizations protesting about so many other missing cases? Why Swamiji is so particular of Love Jihad as if no minority girl has so far eloped with Hindu boy. If Hindu girl elopes with Muslim boy, it is Love Jihad, but if Muslim girl marries Hindu boy, it is permissible. And see the gullible protesters gathered there.

How many of them really know the missing woman and how many of them are really bothered about her? The news says the girl who had gone to dental clinic did not come back. But does not say anywhere that she has either been abducted or has eloped eith a Jihadi. They why this loose tongue of a religious figure spitting venom.

Well she might have gone to a better clinic. When the treatmentment is not good in local clinic, patients tend to go to better clinics. Let them first correct themselves before pointing fingers against others.

I appreciate comments by Raghu and Nithesh. It is uproarious and very unfortunate that a religious leader is giving such an irresponsible statement. Is it because of his ignorance or is it because he is another religious fanatic in guise of a swamy?

Rather than preaching peace and harmony, this  swamiji indulged in CID investigation by giving nonsense statement as if the Jihadi's telephoned him and informed him that they are luring girls from other community for their terrorist activities. Those who are supposed to safeguard the peace and love in the community , sowing the seeds of hatred and communal violence in the hearts of common public. " beliye eddu Hola Meyidanthe""

It's unfortunate to note that a respected religous figure is giving talks on sensitive topics like "Love Jehad" and indirectly pointing his fingers at a community. It is upto the police authorities to investigate thoroughly and then determine the exact reason of the girls disappearance. If any one is found guilty then they should be published. This sort of loose talk by the religous figure might create a rift between communities.Having said this, i think it's advisable for us to stay on the right path,so that no one points their fingers at us tommorrow.

Instead of misguiding the people about an Imaginary "Love Jihad" and stoking communal hatred, It would be sensible if women were advised against pre-maritial relationships/affairs. These Kannada/hindi movies and new tele-serials are influencing young girls to a make-beleive world where they think romance is everything in life and of course there are the clever males who exploit this situation.

Terrorist now lure young boys and girls from other community and drag the innocent to terrorism. People, the parent should by more vigilant and keep track of where their children are going. Now it's more convenient as communication thru mobile is a quick reach. This message is not to let down any community but the message is to alert all communites.
