Mangalore, Oct 6: Renowned ‘United Youngsters’ has been organizing various entertainment events throughout the year to mark its golden jubilee.

The valedictory ceremony of the grand golden jubilee celebrations will be held on Sunday October 18, at Milagres Hall in the city. Rt Rev Gerald Issac Lobo, Bishop of Shimoga, will preside over the function.

Capt Merwin Pinto, who is a former member of United Youngsters, besides being the producer of the first ever Konkani movie ‘Mog Ani Maipas’, will be the chief guest.

Seven founder members of United Youngsters—Wilfy Rebimbus, Donald D’Souza, Clifford D’Souza, Harry D’Souza, Vincent Lorena, Percy D’Sa, and Adolphus D’Souza—will be the special guests on the occasion.

To commemorate the event, United Youngsters will release a VCD of ‘Mog Ani Maipaas’, and a DVD of ‘Wilfy’s Golden Sentimental Nite’ held at TMA Pai Hall in August this year.

Repeated requests from Wilfy’s fans have led United Youngsters to come out with the discs.

Apart from the above, the distribution of a special edition of Wilfy’s Golden Collection comprising 40 volumes brought out this year will commence on the occasion. Those who have booked the set can collect their copies from the venue.

The golden jubilee celebrations had begun early this year with the staging of Konkani play, ‘Kon Kithem Munta’ which had won second place in the Daiji Dubai drama competition held in the city.

Later, in April, two books penned by United Youngsters head Wilfy Rebimbus were released—‘Kogull Gaitha’ a compilation of 500 songs of Wilfy and ‘Kogulle Patlyaan’ a study of Wilfy’s songs by Nandini (Stella D’Costa).

‘Wilfy’s Golden Sentimental Nite’, was held on August 2 and was one of the biggest events in the city. Thousands of the singers’ fans had to go home disappointed as they could not get tickets due to the overwhelming response. The event was held at TMA Pai Convention Hall in the city.

On August 15, Wilfy’s 247th Nite was staged at the city’s Don Bosco Hall. On the occasion, five senior artistes of ‘Wilfy Nite’ were honoured for service rendered over the past many years.
